Sukalo compares Kosovo salaries with Central Asian football

Bosnian FIFA-licensed agent and Pro Talent Sportmanagement head Amil Sukalo has compared salary levels in Kosovo with those in Central Asian football, explaining why the European market remains attractive even though some clubs in the region can offer higher wages.

Speaking to Eurasia Football about reported salary levels in Kosovo — where the lower end is sometimes said to be around €800 per month — Sukalo said he has not encountered such figures in the Superliga.

“I know the Kosovo market very well because we have been working there for many years. Honestly, this is the first time I have heard of a €800 salary in the Superliga, unless we are talking about a very young local player on a scholarship contract. In the professional segment, the figures are clearly higher.

“Even second-division clubs often offer more than that. In the Superliga, salaries depend on the ambitions of the club and the level of the player. In some clubs, key players can earn more than €10,000 per month.”

At the same time, Šukalo acknowledged that some Central Asian clubs have bigger budgets and are able to offer higher wages. However, he noted that the European market, including Kosovo, remains attractive because of sporting prospects, competition stability and the opportunity to move on to stronger European leagues.

Football links between Kosovo and Central Asia have also become more visible in recent years. In autumn 2024, Kosovo’s Llapi signed Kyrgyzstan international winger Beknaz Almazbekov. In early 2026, Bosnian midfielder Harun Karić joined Prishtina after winning the Kyrgyz Premier League with Bars and the Super Cup with Abdysh-Ata, establishing himself as one of the league’s most highly rated foreign players. Around the same time, another Bosnian, Haris Ibrišagić, moved from Bishkek City to Llapi, while Ferizaj signed Uzbek defender Abdugani Kamolov.

There has also been movement in the opposite direction. Since the summer of 2025, Kosovo winger Adenis Shala has been playing successfully for Uzbekistan’s Nasaf.

More than 20 players represented by Amil Sukalo have played or are currently playing for clubs in the Kyrgyz Premier League.
