On December 5, the group stage draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held next summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, took place in Washington. The Uzbekistan national team will participate in the tournament for the first time.
Following the draw, the Uzbekistan national team found itself in Group K. Their opponents were the national teams of Portugal, Colombia, and the winner of the international play-off matches (play-off) involving the DR Congo, Jamaica, and New Caledonia.
The Uzbek team will play its first match in Mexico City on June 17 against Colombia. On June 23, it will be against Portugal in Houston. On June 27, it will be against the playoff winner in Atlanta.
It’s worth noting that the World Cup will be held for the first time in three countries and will feature 48 participants. The teams that finish first in their groups, as well as the eight best third-place teams out of 12, will advance to the playoffs.
