Former Marcelo teammate set to leave Uzbekistan for Georgia after failing to make an impact

Brazilian attacking midfielder Isac Martins will leave Kattaqo‘rg‘on and continue his career with Georgian club Samgurali. The player’s agent, Farrukh Saifullaev, revealed the move in an interview with Eurasia Football.

Martins joined Kattaqo‘rg‘on ahead of the 2026 season but failed to establish himself in the Uzbek club’s starting lineup. In his first league appearances, the Brazilian came off the bench three times and played fewer than 40 minutes in total. He made his first start only on April 26.

— Why did things not work out for Isac at Kattaqo‘rg‘on?

— Because he needs regular playing time, while the team needs immediate results. He requires time to adapt and build an understanding with his teammates.

Kattaqo‘rg‘on is now following a different development path. The club prefers experienced players to promising youngsters.

In general, the foreign players who come here are not always of the highest quality. But when we bring in players like Isac, they are not given enough time to develop. They are expected to produce results immediately.

Coaches are also forced to select more experienced players because they themselves can be dismissed after two or three defeats. That is why high-quality foreign players do not come here. If you look closely, there are only a handful of them in the league.

Isac will now continue his career with Georgian club Samgurali, Saifullaev said.

The transfer has not yet been officially announced. Public databases still list the 21-year-old Brazilian as a Kattaqo‘rg‘on player, with his contract reportedly running until the end of 2026.

Isac previously represented Fluminense at youth level. In 2024, he scored eight goals, finished as the team’s top scorer and helped the club win the Rio U-20 Cup. He later trained with Fluminense’s senior squad alongside Marcelo, Thiago Silva, Felipe Melo and Jhon Arias.

Eurasia Football previously published a detailed feature on Isac Martins, his spell at Fluminense and his friendship with current Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Isaque.
