The 2026 Turkmenistan Women’s Futsal Championship has finished in Ashgabat, with Kerwen winning the national title.
The short-format tournament was held from May 11 to 16 under the auspices of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. Six teams from the capital and the regions took part: Kerwen and Altyn Täç from Ashgabat, Mary from Mary Region, Miras from Lebap Region, Balkan from Balkan Region and Daşoguz Region.
Kerwen finished first and won the gold medals. Mary took silver, while Altyn Täç completed the top three.
The individual awards were also announced after the tournament. Elnura Maksumova of Miras was named the best goalkeeper, Maria Charyyeva of Altyn Täç finished as the top scorer, and Kerwen’s Jemilya Babayeva was named the best player of the championship.
One of the more notable details of the tournament was the sponsorship background of two teams in the top three. Kerwen, the champion, lists John Deere, the American agricultural and construction machinery manufacturer, among its sponsors. Altyn Täç, the bronze medallist, has China’s Sitrak, a heavy truck brand, among its partners.
For Turkmen sport, this is a noteworthy example of international private-sector involvement. Foreign commercial sponsorship is not commonly visible in local sports projects in Turkmenistan, especially outside major state-backed structures. In that context, the presence of John Deere and Sitrak around two private futsal schools in Ashgabat stands out.
Both Ashgabat clubs are private futsal schools. The other teams in the championship represented regional sides supported by sports committees and state funding.
