Iranian winger Reza Dehghani has left Kyrgyz club Alay and returned to his home country amid the escalating situation in Iran.
Dehghani joined Alay from Tajik side Istiklol in February. He took part in pre-season preparations and made one appearance in the Kyrgyz Premier League.
According to the club, the recent developments in Iran left the player in a difficult emotional state. Dehghani asked to return to his family, who remain in Iran. Alay agreed to his request, and the two sides terminated the contract by mutual agreement.
The club said the player first flew to Istanbul and then crossed the Turkish-Iranian border. It is currently unable to establish contact with him, citing internet restrictions in Iran.
Dehghani is considered the most valuable player in Alay’s squad, with an estimated market value of €250,000.
A product of Sepahan’s academy, Dehghani has previously played for Tractor, Persepolis, Esteghlal Khuzestan, Nassaji and Mes. He has also been called up to Iran’s Olympic team. In 2025, he joined Istiklol before moving to Alay.
After four matches of the Kyrgyz Premier League season, Alay have five points and sit 12th in the table.
