Serbian coach Goran Stevanović has stepped down as head coach of the Tajikistan national team.

According to Eurasia Football, the two sides failed to reach an agreement over a contract extension. The coach confirmed this in a comment:
“We did not reach an agreement on extending the contract. That’s all.”
According to Eurasia Football, the coach was expecting a salary increase, as well as the opportunity to bring in his own assistants.
Stevanović took charge of Tajikistan in the autumn of 2025 and guided the team to qualification for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Under his leadership, Tajikistan played four matches, winning three and drawing one — a crucial game against the Philippines.
It remains unclear who will take over the national team following Stevanović’s departure.
Earlier, the Telegram channel Goal.tj reported that Stevanović had already said goodbye to the players.
