Former Lokomotiv Moscow, Arsenal Tula and Istiklol head coach Igor Cherevchenko is reportedly in talks to become Aktobe’s new manager.
According to journalist Vladimir Zharkov’s Telegram channel, ZharkOFF, Cherevchenko is expected to replace Slovak manager Štefan Tarkovič.
Aktobe are already in talks with Tarkovič over the early termination of his contract.
Kazakh journalist Eldar Amanbayev reports, the two parties now only need to agree on the compensation package before the 53-year-old’s departure can be made official.
Tarkovič took charge of Aktobe at the beginning of April and oversaw 17 matches in all competitions, recording seven wins, four draws and six defeats.
The club currently sit seventh in the Kazakhstan Premier League with 25 points after 17 matches.
Aktobe were also eliminated from the Kazakhstan Cup after losing to Altai on penalties in the quarter-finals.
Cherevchenko’s most recent job came at Tajik champions Istiklol, whom he left at the end of 2025 to undergo knee surgery.
During his time in Dushanbe, he guided the club to three consecutive Tajikistan Higher League titles.
