Uruguayan defender Mauro Brasil has left Dinamo Samarkand and lodged a complaint with FIFA over the club’s failure to meet its contractual obligations.
The 27-year-old has already returned to Uruguay. Dinamo have faced payment delays for several months and, although the club has begun settling part of its debts, players are still understood to be owed money.
Brasil remains registered in Dinamo’s squad for the season. However, he has featured in only two of the club’s nine matches. He was not included in the matchday squad for either of their last two league games.
Argentine defender Salvador Sánchez is also registered by Dinamo. He has yet to make a matchday squad this season.
According to Eurasia Football, the two South American players had previously declined to train fully, citing injuries. It is possible this was also connected to the payment situation.
Dinamo have played nine matches in the Uzbekistan Super League so far. The club are facing problems both on the pitch and behind the scenes amid their financial difficulties.
Brasil is a 27-year-old Uruguayan centre-back. He came through the youth system at El Tanque Sisley and was also on the books of Peñarol.
He has played for Rampla Juniors, Cerro Largo, Mexican side Celaya and Chilean club Cobreloa.
In 2024, Brasil represented a Uruguay team made up of domestic-based players in a goalless unofficial friendly against Costa Rica.
He joined Dinamo Samarkand in January 2026. In doing so, he became the first Uruguayan player in the history of the Uzbekistan Super League.
