Uzbek club Dinamo Samarkand have signed Jamaica national team captain Damion Lowe, according to “Fergana“. The experienced centre-back, however, has not yet joined the team’s pre-season camp.
According to “Fergana“, Lowe’s arrival was initially delayed by international duty, with Dinamo allowing him to represent Jamaica despite the matches falling outside the FIFA window. The defender was then expected to travel to Uzbekistan, but later postponed the trip, citing a family emergency. The club has been informed that Lowe’s wife and child were allegedly involved in a road accident, and the player is currently out of contact.
Dinamo are currently training in the UAE, where they recorded a surprise 4–3 win over Moscow’s CSKA on January 25.
Lowe, 31, is a long-serving leader of the Jamaica squad, which remains in contention for qualification to the 2026 World Cup. Should the Reggae Boyz book their place at the tournament, they could potentially be drawn in the same group as Uzbekistan.
At club level, Lowe has featured across the US, Europe and Africa, playing for Seattle Sounders, Inter Miami, Philadelphia Union and Houston Dynamo, as well as Norway’s Start and Egypt’s Al Ittihad. He has earned 78 caps for Jamaica, scoring four goals.
