Kazakh wonderkid Dastan Satpayev enjoyed a dream first start for Chelsea after scoring his first goal for the club in a pre-season friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers in Australia.
The 17-year-old scored after just six minutes before helping create Chelsea’s second goal in an impressive first start for the Blues.
The latest milestone is another chapter in what has already been a remarkable rise for the Kazakhstan international.
Born in Almaty, Satpayev progressed through Kairat’s academy before making his senior debut at just 15 years old. He became one of the youngest players in the club’s history.
His breakthrough season quickly attracted interest from across Europe, with Chelsea agreeing a deal to sign the striker in February 2025 in one of the biggest transfers in Kazakh football history.
Satpayev remained at Kairat until last month, helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League league phase for the first time while playing a key role in another Kazakhstan Premier League title challenge.
He continued to rewrite the record books, becoming the youngest Kazakh player to score in UEFA competition against Olimpija Ljubljana.
He later became the third-youngest goalscorer in Champions League history, behind only Lamine Yamal and Ansu Fati.
The forward also became Kazakhstan’s youngest-ever debutant and goalscorer after finding the net against Belgium in FIFA World Cup qualifying.
Chelsea supporters have only had limited opportunities to watch Satpayev since his arrival, but the forward could hardly have made a better impression on his first start.
Looking ahead, Chelsea’s pre-season tour continues with fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus, AC Milan, Johor Darul Ta’zim and Real Sociedad, giving Satpayev more opportunities to build on an unforgettable first start and stake his claim ahead of the new season.
