Uzbekistan will face Russia in a friendly in Tashkent on November 12, with Fabio Cannavaro set to meet Valery Karpin.

The match will take place at Pakhtakor Stadium during the November international window. A kick-off time has not yet been announced.
It will be only the second meeting between the two national teams.
Despite the long-standing links between Russian and Uzbek football, they did not meet for the first time until 2022.
That match also took place at Pakhtakor Stadium. More than 14,000 supporters watched the sides draw 0-0.
Karpin was already in charge of Russia. Uzbekistan, meanwhile, were managed by Srečko Katanec.
This time, Cannavaro will lead the hosts.
Interestingly, the two coaches also appear never to have faced each other in a competitive match as players.
Karpin played against Italy at Euro 1996, before Cannavaro had made his international debut.
Cannavaro later featured against Russia in the 1998 World Cup play-offs. However, Karpin missed both matches.
Their paths also narrowly missed at club level.
In 1998-99, Karpin’s Celta Vigo and Cannavaro’s Parma both reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals. However, they were drawn against different opponents.
Uzbekistan are now preparing for the 2027 Asian Cup after making their World Cup debut.
Russia, meanwhile, have been excluded from UEFA competitions since 2022 and have largely played friendly matches.
